local youth in Shadnagar and surrounding mandals are expressing growing frustration over the lack of employment opportunities in local industries. Despite promise to prioritise local hiring, many employers favor non-locals for jobs, leaving educated and unemployed local youth in lurch.
At the inception of these industries, assurances were made that local youth would be given priority for employment. However, it has become evident that many industries, such as Catedan, Kottur, Shadnagar, Keshampet, Farooq Nagar, Kondurgu, Chadar Guda, and Nandigama mandals, are bringing labourers from States like Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh.
Local youth are questioning the fairness of the practice, arguing that despite their higher education, they are not provided jobs.
Frustration is mounting as repeated complaints to the government and officials yielded no results. The youth are particularly concerned about the impact on their future and the local economy. They argue that if local youths are given jobs in these industries, it would significantly boost regional development and reduce the need for locals to migrate to Hyderabad for work.
Local public representatives have also come under fire for their perceived inaction. Many youths feel that their pleas are being ignored and that their potential is being wasted. The industrial expansion has brought environmental issues, including air and water pollution, negatively affecting both the local population and wildlife. Despite this, locals have provided land for these industries with the expectation of employment opportunities, only to see non-locals filling the positions.
Panuganti Parvathalu, president of AITUC Rangareddy District, demanded immediate action to rectify the situation. He emphasised that the original promise was to prioritize local hiring, but this has not been honored. Parvathalu warned that if industrial owners do not provide employment opportunities to local youth, AITUC will organize agitation programs.
