In a significant display of joint operational capability, INS Dega, a premier naval air station of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), extended a warm welcome to the C295 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The C295’s maiden visit to Visakhapatnam marks a key milestone in enhancing inter-service cooperation and integration of assets.
The versatile C295, known for its tactical airlift and logistics capabilities, was inducted into the IAF to augment medium-lift operations.  Its arrival at INS Dega underscores the growing synergy between the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force in conducting joint exercises and humanitarian relief missions.
A spokesperson for INS Dega stated, “We are delighted to host the C295 and its crew.  This visit strengthens the foundation for effective collaboration between our two services, enabling us to operate seamlessly in a range of scenarios.” The Airbus Defence and Space C295 is a twin-turboprop tactical military transport aircraft. Its multifaceted capabilities support troop and cargo transport, paradropping, and other specialized missions.
The C295’s integration with naval operations will enhance India’s overall power projection capabilities within the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and beyond. This visit is expected to pave the way for joint exercises and training opportunities, further consolidating the nation’s defence preparedness.
