Participating in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee birth centenary celebrations, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur lauded the contributions of Telugu cinema and its actors in putting Indian films on the global map. Speaking at the event, Thakur emphasized that Telugu actors like Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi have not only brought recognition to Indian cinema but have also received accolades under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, including the National Award for Allu Arjun and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Chiranjeevi. He credited films like RRR, Pushpa, KGF, and Baahubali for enhancing Indian cinema’s reputation worldwide.

Thakur also urged people to avoid controversies and instead engage in dialogue and maintain safety while steering clear of political motives.

Reflecting on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s unparalleled contributions, Thakur described him as a visionary leader whose journey began as an RSS worker and evolved into a celebrated poet, orator, and statesman. Vajpayee’s ability to inspire people, whether as Prime Minister or a parliamentarian, earned him respect across party lines. Thakur recalled how Vajpayee upheld democratic values even during challenging times, contrasting it with Congress’ actions during the Emergency.

Highlighting Vajpayee’s leadership during the Kargil War, Thakur noted how Vajpayee firmly resisted international pressure to retreat, asserting that not an inch of Indian territory would be compromised. This resolute stance inspired soldiers and instilled confidence in the nation. Vajpayee’s vision for India was further exemplified by initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which connected villages with roads, and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, aimed at improving education infrastructure.

Thakur also mentioned Vajpayee’s efforts to integrate modern technology into governance and his call for Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan. He credited Vajpayee for laying the foundation for advancements in telecommunications and technology, which leaders like Chandrababu Naidu carried forward.

Drawing parallels between Vajpayee and Prime Minister Modi, Thakur said Modi has been realizing Vajpayee’s dreams, such as the successful implementation of One Rank, One Pension and the abrogation of Article 370. Thakur called on party workers to carry forward Vajpayee’s vision, work diligently for India’s development, and honor his legacy by organizing events at locations where Vajpayee’s initiatives were implemented.

Concluding his speech, Thakur expressed pride in Modi’s leadership, which he described as not just for India but for the world. He urged everyone to work together towards building a developed India by 2047, fulfilling Vajpayee’s dreams for the nation.
