The Indian School of Hospitality and Sommet Education is delighted to announce a pioneering collaboration to unveil the Indian Talent Development initiative. The Sommet Education Foundation was in charge of this project. This initiative seeks to give youngsters chances for career advancement in the booming hospitality sector by investing in their skill sets.
Anouck Weiss, executive vice president of The Sommet Education Foundation, tells us exclusively about the initiative when we ask him about its progress. He begins, “The initiative was inspired by the urgent need to enhance skill development and employability among India’s youth, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. This is in line with the goals of the Sommet Education Foundation, which are to inspire young people to pursue jobs in the expanding global hospitality industry and to empower them through education.”
One of the industries that is expanding the fastest is hospitality, which offers plenty of job and career options. So, he further adds, “One of the biggest issues facing society at the moment is youth unemployment and education. By eliminating injustice and discrimination, we hope to ensure that every one of our talents has the chance to realise their greatest potential. Our employees’ success shouldn’t be based on their nationality, origin, or level of education.”
The initiative, however, overcomes the difficulties faced by underprivileged people by offering scholarships to enroll in ISH’s specialised culinary programs, according to Kunal Vasudeva, co-founder of ISH. This immediate assistance removes financial barriers, and the partnership with Accor opens up more industrial opportunities by ensuring employment and practical training! The project deliberately seeks out people from different socioeconomic backgrounds to promote diversity and social inclusion. This strategy enhances the diversity of viewpoints within the hospitality staff, in addition to promoting the growth of the sector. Through esteemed international relationships, such as those with École Ducasse and Les Roches, it considerably improves its training and immersive learning experiences. It also  offers its culinary students access to top-notch knowledge and techniques, resulting in an outstanding culinary arts education. In a similar vein, their students will benefit from state-of-the-art hospitality management training. Through these partnerships, sponsored students are guaranteed an international education, equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed as leaders in the world’s hospitality sector. The initiative comprises pre-qualified employment contracts and three months of on-the-job training at Accor properties to guarantee a smooth transition from training to the workplace. This ensures that students are well-prepared and confident!
Sponsored individuals are chosen based on their commitment to a hospitality vocation, potential, and financial necessity. To provide those selected the best chance of success, the selection procedure looks for persons who have a significant interest in culinary arts but lack the resources to pursue further study in the field.  “All of the resources required for their studies, including tuition and access to cutting-edge facilities, will be provided to sponsored students. In addition, they will gain from practical training, industry professional mentorship, and an organised career path made possible by their network after graduation. The Sommet Education Foundation backs the project and counts on its extensive worldwide resources as well as long-standing dedication to and experience with high-quality training. It sets itself apart with 400 programs ranging from short-term hospitality vocational training to management and executive academic courses, spread across a global network of five highly regarded education institutions spread across ten countries.
This innovative method equips students to take the lead and succeed in the fast-paced hospitality sector. Transversal curricula include sustainability and responsible tourism, and universities encourage students’ and graduates’ ethical behaviour. This promotes awareness and the adoption of sustainable practices in the worldwide hospitality industry.”
The initiative is expected to have a substantial, long-term positive impact on the prospects and standards of India’s hospitality industry. The program intends to assist in the expansion of the industry and improve its contribution to the economy and community at large by developing competent professionals and leaders.
