IOC donates gas boiler to Akshaya Patra Foundation

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) donated a gas boiler conversion from High-Speed Diesel (HSD) to liquid petroleum Gas (LPG) to the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Visakhapatnam. This initiative, part of the Indian Oil Arogyam corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the efficiency of the Foundation’s kitchens.
The inaugural ceremony, held on Tuesday, marked the integration of this eco-friendly technology. B. Anil Kumar, Executive Director and State Head of TAPSO Andhra & Telangana, lauded the project’s potential, highlighting its contribution to making Akshaya Patra kitchens more sustainable and energy-efficient. The initiative, valued at Rs 20 lakh, offers significant advantages, with daily savings of Rs 5,000 and yearly savings of Rs 11 lakh. Furthermore, it aids in environmental preservation by diminishing pollution and elevating safety standards, while also reducing cooking time.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation, in partnership with the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, distributes meals to 25,000 children every day from its industrial estate kitchen to 137 government schools in Visakhapatnam’s urban area. Nationally, the Foundation feeds an astounding 22 lakh children daily from 74 Kitchens.
Niskinchana Bhakta Dasa, president of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, extended his sincere appreciation to the Indian Oil Corporation for their generous contribution, recognising their critical role in supporting underprivileged communities.
