Issue ration cards immediately in non-poll districts: CM

Must read

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered officials to speed up the issuing of new ration cards in districts where the election code is not in effect so that all eligible families can receive them without any delay.
He directed officials to swiftly complete the verification of applications received through Gram Sabhas, the caste survey and Mee Seva centres. Reviewing the situation, the Chief Minister questioned officials about the persistent rush at Mee Seva centres despite multiple rounds of application collection. Officials said that some families were submitting applications repeatedly, leading to a surge in crowds.
Revanth emphasised that this situation could have been avoided if the cards had been issued promptly and asked officials to take immediate steps to distribute them. He also appealed to families who had already applied to stop visiting the centres, assuring them that their requests would be processed without delay.
With the election code in force in many districts, the Chief Minister said that new ration cards should be issued in areas where the code is not in force. He assured that distribution would begin in all districts once the curbs were lifted.
During the review meeting, the CM also examined various design proposals for the new ration cards presented by the Civil Supplies Department.
