Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan will soon be rejoining forces for their upcoming film ‘Thug Life’. At a recent event, the filmmaker spoke up about his reunion with the veteran actor.
Mani Ratnam will once again collaborate with Kamal Haasan after 35 years for the film ‘Thug Life’. Recently, at the event, he discussed his most-anticipated reunion with Kamal.
Mani Ratnam was presented the award by screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar. The star-studded event also had Shah Rukh Khan in attendance.
Recently, Mani Ratnam was asked about his much-awaited reunion with Kamal Haasan. ‘Thug Life’ will be Haasan’s 234th film. At the Indian of the Year 2023 event in Delhi, Mani Ratnam was asked what took him so long to reunite with the legendary actor. He replied, “I can’t say what took me so long. It is tough when you have an actor of that capability, who has done several things. So unless you have some solid things, do not go to him just because you have done it before. Hopefully, we would be able to bring some kind of character back on screen.”
The filmmaker further continued, “I don’t think big stars have real egos when they are on a project. Really, it has never been difficult to work with stars. If you are clear and know what you want, they are too happy to have somebody make the decisions. They trust you, you trust them. It becomes a mutual thing. You make it together. Sometimes, scripts demand new faces, and that’s why you go for new faces. I do it only because it is right for my film, not because I want to introduce somebody.”
