IT Minister Nara Lokesh inspectsAP-Maker-Lab-On-Wheels prototype

Minister for Education, Information Technology (IT), and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Friday inspected the prototype of the AP-Maker-Lab-On-Wheels at his residence in Undavalli. This innovative vehicle, introduced in collaboration with Infosys, is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The initiative is being implemented on a pilot basis to raise awareness among students about global advancements in technology.
The AP-Maker-Lab-On-Wheels aims to familiarise students with transformative technological trends. As part of the pilot project, the vehicle will travel to schools in Mangalagiri, providing students with hands-on exposure to the latest technological innovations. Minister Lokesh commended Infosys for partnering with the state government to create transformative skill development opportunities. He noted that once the pilot phase is successful, similar vehicles will be deployed to educational institutions across the state.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of Digital India and ESG Vision-2030 (Environmental, Social, and Governance) by promoting free digital and STEM learning opportunities, even in the state’s remotest regions. The vehicle features interactive 90-minute learning sessions, during which students can access courses through the Infosys Springboard platform at no cost. Upon course completion, students will receive world-class technology certificates.
The mobile lab is equipped with laptops, tablets, and other essential tools to facilitate digital learning. Infosys has committed an investment of ?5 crore to set up the lab-on-wheels and will also cover an annual operational expenditure of ?40 lakh. Additionally, Infosys will provide course content and trainer support, with an average investment of Rs 1,500 per student.
The programme aims to reach 4,800 students every three months.
Infosys representatives explained that the lab-on-wheels will target four batches of 20 students daily, creating awareness and providing opportunities to develop their skills. Managing Director of the AP Skill Development Corporation, G Ganesh Kumar, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu, and Infosys staff members were present during the inspection.
The AP-Maker-Lab-On-Wheels programme will soon be expanded to schools and colleges across the state, spearheaded by the AP Skill Development Corporation in close collaboration with Infosys.
