Actor Allu Sirish is back to entertain the audience with his latest film, Buddy. In a recent conversation ahead of the release, Allu Sirish, the charismatic star known for his diverse roles, shared intriguing details about his latest film, Buddy. The movie, directed by Sam Anton, is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja and Adhana Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green Films banner. With Gayathri Bharadwaj and Prisha Rajesh Singh playing pivotal roles alongside Sirish, the film promises an adventurous and action-packed ride.
Allu Sirish recounted the production journey of Buddy, which began in March last year and wrapped up by July. “Initially, we aimed to release the film in December, but with over 3,000 CG shots and the intricate animation required for the Buddy character, we faced delays. We wanted to ensure that Buddy met international standards, which is why we moved the release to August,” Sirish explained. The extra time allowed for meticulous work, ensuring that the film’s visual effects are top-notch. When asked about the storyline, Sirish emphasised the unique aspects of Buddy. “Director Sam Anton brought a fresh perspective to the concept of a Teddy Bear coming to life. Although similar themes have been explored before, Buddy stands out with its unique conflict, characterisation and narrative. I was excited to portray a pilot, adding a new layer of intensity to my role,” he said. Despite the film’s similarities to other works, Sirish assured that Buddy offers a distinct experience.
Recent buzz suggested that Buddy might be a remake, a notion Sirish was quick to address. “There have been speculations about whether Buddy is a remake. We understand the confusion, especially with the release of our poster. However, I want to assure the audience that Buddy is an original film. We’ve put a lot of effort into creating a unique experience that combines both class and mass entertainment,” Sirish clarified.
In response to changing viewing habits, Sirish discussed the importance of the theatrical release for Telugu audiences. “We’ve focused on making Buddy accessible in theatres at affordable prices. Unlike the North, where theatre attendance is relatively low, Telugu moviegoers still prefer watching films on the big screen. We want to ensure that Buddy reaches as many viewers as possible,” he noted.
While Buddy includes a love story, Sirish explained that it plays a secondary role. “Director Sam included just enough romance to support the story without overshadowing the main plot. The film is designed to be fast-paced, with a runtime of 2 hours and 8 minutes, which suits the concept-oriented nature of the movie,” he said. Sirish praised the director for maintaining a brisk and engaging narrative. The film features several high-octane action sequences, which Sirish and his team approached with a focus on realism. “We worked closely with the action choreographers to design natural and impactful sequences. The production quality is exceptional, with the acquisition of an old airplane for key scenes, including the climax fight,” Sirish added. Reflecting on his career, Sirish mentioned his preference for focusing on one project at a time. “I believe in giving each film the attention it deserves, which sometimes leads to gaps between releases. Delays are a part of the industry and it’s essential to ensure that each project is completed to the highest standard,” he concluded.
