Jagadish hails KCR for increasing pension for disabled

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi government has adopted a humanitarian approach in increasing pensions to the physically challenged persons, said Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday. Telangana is the only State which has been providing Rs 4,016 pension to physically challenged persons, he said.

The Minister launched the distribution of increased pension to the physically challenged persons here. The pension for the disabled was increased to Rs 4,016 from Rs 3,016.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Reddy hailed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his humanitarian approach in sanctioning increased pensions to physically challenged persons. The government gifted laptops to physically challenged students and scooters and electric motorcycles to the employees, he said.

The Minister further said that the Chief Minister introduced Kalyana Lakshmi to help the poor families in marrying off their daughters. The Chief Minister also introduced input subsidy to farmers under the Ryhtu Bandhu scheme and insurance cover for farmers’ families under the Rythu Bhima scheme, he said.

Telangana State has been making rapid strides in development. On the welfare front, the government distributed Rs 2,07,66,736 to the physically challenged persons in the Suryapet constituency alone on Wednesday. The government distributed pensions to 980 physically challenged persons in Atmakur S, 692 in Chivvemla, 937 in Penpahad, 790 in Suryapet, 1,772 in Suryapet municipal limits.
