Jagadish slams HYDRAA, Musi Riverfront Projects for misusing funds

Must read

BRS MLA G. Jagadish Reddy strongly criticised the Telangana government’s handling of HYDRAA and the Musi Riverfront Project.
Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan, Jagadish accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka of pushing these projects without proper consultation and said that the government is trying to cover up its failures by diverting public attention.
Jagadish drew comparisons between the current situation and the 2016 demonetisation, stating, “Just as Prime Minister Modi made mistakes with demonetisation, Revanth is making mistakes with HYDRAA under false pretences.”
He claimed that the government is attempting to mask its failures by presenting these projects as beautification efforts, but in reality, they are intended for the benefit of a select few people close to the CM.
Jagadish raised concerns about the huge sums of public money being spent on the Musi Riverfront Project, stating that over Rs 1 lakh crore would be wasted, while poor people’s homes are being demolished in the name of development.
He questioned whether the project had been discussed in Cabinet and whether Bhatti was prepared to address the issue. He also claimed that the Musi Project is being used to siphon off funds and destroy Hyderabad’s brand image.
“You have already demolished houses worth thousands of crores, and now you plan to misuse public funds,” Jagadish said, warning that the project could become a financial disaster for the state.
Jagadish did not hold back in criticising the current administration’s governance and accused them of running the government on false promises and failing to deliver on key commitments.
He cited the incomplete farm loan waivers and the failure to implement welfare schemes like Rythu Bharosa and Varuna Bonus and alleged that welfare programmes are being stalled due to commission-related issues.
He also accused the government of mismanaging the power supply, stating that the 24-hour electricity given during KCR’s rule is no longer being maintained.
He also criticized Revanth Reddy for making repeated trips to Delhi, failing to focus on Telangana’s internal issues, and misleading the public with false promises.
Jagadish also raised concerns over the role of the police and senior officials and accused them of showing undue enthusiasm in supporting the government’s efforts to suppress public dissent.

He criticised the government’s approach to dealing with people questioning its policies on social media, mentioning that lookout notices were being issued to silence critics.

“We will not let the government exploit the Musi River project to make money at the expense of the people,” he said. He concluded by stating that the Telangana Bhavan, which KCR referred to as a symbol of Telangana’s self-respect and honour,  has now become a protest site with the victims of HYDRAA and the Musi Riverfront Project flocking to it to voice their grievances.
