The former minister said that the farmers are forced to approach moneylenders as banks too failed extend loans to them

Former Minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy on Monday said the Congress has failed to come to the rescue of the farmers in the undivided Nalgonda district.
Jagadish Reddy, along with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders visited Mushampally village and assessed the crop loss due to drought conditions prevailing in the district.
Speaking to reporters later, the former minister said that the borewells were drying up and there was no irrigation water supply. The banks too failed to extend loans to farmers. The farmers are forced to approach moneylenders, he regretted.   Standing crops in vast lands were getting dried up and yet the State government remained unmoved over the farmers’ plight. In the erstwhile Nalgonda district, farmers had appealed to the MLAs and Ministers for a timely supply of water, yet their pleas fell on deaf ears.
He appealed to the Ministers to visit the villages and interact with the farmers to reassure them that the government would come to their rescue. He urged the Ministers, who came from the district, to ensure the welfare of farmers.
During the BRS rule, farmers did not face water and power supply problems. During the Yasangi and Vanakalam seasons, the BRS government used to review the situation and take up measures accordingly, besides extending timely support to the farmers, he recalled.

Jagadish Reddy expressed the view that the Congress and the BRS were together targeting the BRS. He felt that the people had now realised the importance of the BRS.
