Jagan asks YSRCP cadre to expose TDP-led coalition govt’s failures

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called upon his party workers to channel public discontent against the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government into a powerful movement.
Addressing local representatives from Anantapur district on Thursday, Jagan highlighted the growing dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, stating that the people’s concerns must be raised at the right time.
Jagan announced two key protests: on December 27, YSRCP will lead an agitation against rising electricity charges, urging citizens to burn inflated bills as a symbolic gesture. On January 3, attention will shift to the non-payment of Rs 3,900 crore in fee reimbursement and hostel grant dues, which have impacted students’ education.
“These protests are about supporting the people, not political gains,” Jagan said, accusing the TDP government of burdening citizens with an additional Rs 15,000 crore in electricity charges.
He also criticised the TDP for neglecting farmers by dismantling initiatives like free crop insurance and Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), forcing them to sell produce without support for Minimum Support Prices (MSP). “We must stand with the farmers and highlight their struggles,” Jagan urged.
Jagan dismissed Naidu’s “Vision 2047” as empty rhetoric, contrasting it with YSRCP’s tangible achievements, such as improved government schools, advanced courses, and the Family Doctor healthcare initiative. He also accused the government of fostering corruption in sectors like sand, liquor, and mining, calling it a “mafia-like system.”
Reflecting on his own political journey, Jagan reminded his cadre of the challenges of leadership, citing his 16-month jail term as a trial that strengthened his resolve.
He assured his supporters that YSRCP remains committed to fulfilling its promises and standing by the people, despite challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic and declining state revenues.
