Jana Sena Chief K Pawan Kalyan has accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh after being entrusted with the responsibility of governing the State.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting here on Thursday, Pawan Kalyan pledged to repeal the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restore the old pension system, ensuring relief for the employees.
Pawan Kalyan questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision to remove Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s name from the ‘Videsi Vidya’ scheme and expressed his concerns over the renaming of Konaseema district as BR Ambedkar Konaseema. He expressed disappointment over the violence that ensued during the protests against the renaming and demanded the withdrawal of cases filed against 250 individuals involved.
The Jana Sena chief criticised Jagan Mohan Reddy for claiming to be an advocate for Dalit students, asserting that the rights granted by the Constitution matter more to the Dalit community than mere familial connections. He further highlighted that 23 schemes specifically benefiting Dalits had been discontinued under Jagan Reddy’s administration.
Rather than attacking Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directly, Pawan Kalyan urged the people to express their discontent by not voting for the YSRCP in the upcoming elections. He promised to focus on developing the Konaseema region by establishing new railway lines, generating employment opportunities, and revoking the CPS to restore the previous pension system.
Kalyan also drew attention to the oil extraction activities of ONGC, Reliance, and other companies in the Konaseema region. He pledged that if the Jana Sena Party (JSP) assumes power, 70% of job opportunities provided by these companies will be reserved for local youth. Additionally, he criticised the government for diverting corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds meant for the welfare of the people, emphasizing the need for transparency in their distribution.
Recognising the importance of education and healthcare, Kalyan expressed concern over the misappropriation of natural resources by YSRCP leaders, including Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. He assured the crowd that if voted into power, his party would allocate funds to improve the education and healthcare sectors. Furthermore, Kalyan promised to implement a medical insurance plan worth Rs 5 lakh for all citizens.
Expressing sympathy for the plight of farmers, Kalyan noted their regret for having supported the YSRCP in the previous election.
