TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu criticised Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for what he termed inefficiency in managing the Polavaram project, suggesting that it has become non-functional.

As part of his ‘Yudha Bheri’ initiative, Chandrababu Naidu delivered a comprehensive presentation on the current status of irrigation projects in the West Godavari district on Monday. Naidu confidently demonstrated that irrigation endeavours, including the Polavaram project, could be successfully expedited. He said that public awareness and a change in approach were essential for the completion of Polavaram.

Describing Polavaram as a significant asset for the State, Naidu underscored the connection between the left main canal of Polavaram and the Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers. “By redirecting water through the main right canal to Pattiseema, we ensured water supply to the Krishna delta. The allocation of 120 TMC feet of water intended for the Krishna delta was redirected to Rayalaseema through Srisailam.”

Chandrababu Naidu expressed his belief that if the Chintalapudi and Polavaram projects had been completed, Andhra Pradesh would have flourished agriculturally. He lamented the lack of efforts to resolve disputes with neighboring states, asserting that the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) had raised these concerns in its report.

Naidu contended that Chief Minister Jagan disregarded the recommendations provided by the PPA, resulting in the current predicament. He contrasted the approach of the current administration, which he viewed as inefficient, with the visionary decisions taken during his tenure. Naidu accused the current government of repeatedly disseminating false information about the Polavaram project and cited experts who attributed damage to the project to the present administration.
