On the first day of his three-day tour of YSR district, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated and laid foundation stone for a slew of projects on Saturday.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Rs.1,000-crore plywood-panel manufacturing unit Century Panels Limited in the Gopavaram Industrial Park near Badvel, by unveiling the plaque. The company employs 2,266 persons while providing indirect employment to tens of thousands of farmers and others.
After inaugurating the MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and HPL (High Pressure Laminate) units on the campus, he interacted with the company chairman, officials and staff members.
During the casual interaction, the Chief Minister observed that the unit is yet another milestone in the industrial growth of the district.
The Century industrial unit, for which the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone two years ago, is ready to commence commercial production. The unit was established in an extent of 100 acres given to the company on a 33-year lease.
The company manufactures plywood panels from the jam oil wood for which 25,000 farmers grew jam oil trees in an area of 80, 000 acres. The company has completed agreements with farmers on the cultivation of jam oil trees and also provided the saplings on subsidy.
The Chief Minister later inaugurated the YSR Super Speciality Hospital built on the 230-acre RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) complex in Kadapa.
It includes Medical, Dental and Nursing Colleges (Rs 200 crore), 452-bed super speciality wing (Rs 125 crore), 100-bed YSR Institute of Mental Health (Rs 40.81 cr) and the 100-bed YSR Cancer Care Block (Rs 107 cr).
Later, he inaugurated the floodlights arranged in the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium, the modernised District Collectorate Complex and the Ambedkar, Y Junction, Koti Reddy and the Seven Roads Circles here. He also distributed tri-scooters to the disabled persons.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was extended a warm welcome at the Kadapa airport by YSR District in-charge Minister A Suresh, Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha, MP YS Avinash Reddy, MLCs P Ramasubba Reddy, C Ramachandraiah, M Ramachandra Reddy, MLAs Ravindranath Reddy, Raghu Rami Reddy, R Siva Prasada Reddy, Nellore District Atmakur MLA M.Vikaram Kumar Reddy, Kadapa Mayor K Suresh Babu,, District Collector V Vijaya Rama Raju and local people’s representatives.
