As part of his ongoing ‘Yuva Galam’ programme on Saturday, construction workers narrated their problems to TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh and said that several workers are migrating to other States. The Jagan Mohan Reddy government promised to pay Rs 10,000 each to save the workers from the predicament and collected several documents but did not receive a single rupee. The workers complained that the Building and Construction Workers Welfare Cess funds had been diverted.
Responding to them, Lokesh said that all their issues will be resolved on a war foot basis once the TDP is back in power. Lokesh alleged that Jagan is earning Rs 3 crore a day on the illegal sale of sand. The price of sand during the TDP regime was Rs 1,000 per tonne and at present, it is Rs 5,000.
Stating that Tirupati has two MLAs, Karunakar Reddy and Abhay Reddy and both of them are illegally collecting lakhs of rupees even for permissions to build houses, he said. Lokesh promised to initiate all possible welfare schemes for construction workers once the TDP is back in power and will waive their loans. Making it clear that the TDP will certainly come to their rescue, Lokesh said that the ruling party leaders here are illegally occupying private lands and also public properties.
Later, Lokesh began his ‘Yuva Galam’ from the campsite as thousands of youth welcomed the young leader. The youth who walked along with Lokesh complained to him about growing unemployment in the State in the past three-and-half years. Lokesh also had an interaction with petty traders.
