Jagan slams CM over ‘lies and Govt’s failures’

Must read

YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has hit back at AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his party colleagues, accusing them of spreading falsehoods to mislead the public and cover up the government’s failures in fulfilling election promises (Super Six).
Addressing the media persons here on Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly rebutted claims made by Chandrababu and his allies regarding the State’s financial situation, backed by official documents and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports tabled in the Assembly. Jagan said that the coalition government had fabricated figures on the State’s debt, inflating it from Rs 6.4 lakh crore to up to Rs 14 lakh crore.
The YSRCP chief said: “Chandrababu Naidu and his supporters, along with friendly media, have deliberately spread lies about the State’s debt to mislead the public. The real figures, supported by CAG reports, show a much lower debt.” The YSRCP government had maintained better financial discipline despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Jagan said.
He highlighted the financial performance during Chandrababu’s previous tenure (2014-19), pointing out that he had drawn over Rs 28,000 crore beyond the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) limit, which adversely impacted the State’s finances. He further claimed that his government performed better in key areas, including compounded annual growth, per capita income, and growth rates, even outperforming national averages in sectors like manufacturing.
Addressing allegations of a decline in per capita income during his term, Jagan dismissed them as false and part of an ongoing campaign to divert attention from the coalition government’s failure to meet its major promises, including the “Super Six” election commitments.
“The coalition government hlkkas failed to fulfil even basic promises such as free bus travel for women and providing three free LPG cylinders. In contrast, our government created 1.3 lakh jobs in village secretariats, inducted 2.66 lakh volunteers, and took RTC employees into the fold,” Jagan said. He added that the Chandrababu’s government had instead laid off volunteers and dismissed 15,000 workers from the Beverage Corporation.
Jagan also criticised the government’s handling of the healthcare sector, claiming that efforts were being made to privatise healthcare under the guise of “wealth creation.” He accused the government of reversing land reforms, depriving weaker sections of their right to land ownership, and benefiting the ruling party’s allies. He further alleged that the coalition government was failing to complete semi-finished housing projects, with corruption in sectors like liquor, sand, and industry.
“The government’s inefficiency is evident across multiple sectors, and when activists highlight these failures on social media, they are arrested, beaten, and illegally detained. The police are working at the behest of the government, and even retired officers are being used to support their cause,” the former CM claimed.
The YSRCP chief also criticised the government for filing cases against his party leaders Kodali Nani, Ambati Rambabu, RK Roja and others for raising voice against the government. Cases were filed against film director Ram Gopal Varma, too.
He said Nandigama Suresh is still in jail as multiple cases are being filed.
“Right from Tirupati laddu to land reforms, power, roads, loans, industrial growth, and our family members, they have been spreading lies and talking ill,” Jagan pointed out.
He also showed a clipping of YS Sharmila stating that some posts against her originated from Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna’s house.
They created a fake ID in the name of Varra Ravindra Reddy and posted objectionable material dragging our family members, he said, and affirmed that Chandrababu Naidu will stoop to any level for political mileage.
Finally, Jagan blamed Chandrababu’s mismanagement for delays in the Polavaram project, stating that the Chief Minister’s greed and inefficiency were the main causes of the project’s setbacks.
