YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Tenali on June 3 (Tuesday) to console the family of one of three young victims from Dalit and minority communities who were allegedly assaulted by police personnel. Describing the incident as inhuman, Jagan said it had shaken the conscience of the State.

YSRCP MP from Tirupati, Dr Maddila Gurumoorthy, met the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Justice V Ramasubramanian, and the Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), Kishor Makwana, in New Delhi to formally lodge complaints. He urged immediate action against the police personnel involved in the brutal assault, which took place in broad daylight on a public road in Tenali, Guntur district.

Dr Gurumoorthy alleged that the state government was misusing the police force to target YSRCP leaders and suppress marginalised communities, particularly Dalits, tribals and Backward Classes.
