The YSRCP government, under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is set to distribute the fifth edition of financial assistance under the ‘YSR Nethanna Nestham’ scheme. The initiative aims to provide Rs 24,000 per annum to every eligible handloom weaver family that owns a loom. The distribution event will take place today (July 21) in Venkatagiri, Tirupati district.

In the morning of July 21, CM YS Jagan will depart from his Tadepalli residence and address a public meeting near Visvodaya Government Junior College in Venkatagiri, Tirupati district. Subsequently, the Chief Minister will transfer the financial assistance amount of Rs 24,000 directly into the bank accounts of 80,686 eligible beneficiaries across the State with just a click of a button.

The ‘YSR Nethanna Nestham’ welfare scheme has been providing consistent support to weaver families, making them more self-reliant. Including the assistance being disbursed today, the Jagan Government has so far disbursed Rs 1,20,000 to each eligible weaver family under ‘YSR Nethanna Nestham’ alone.

Officials report that since the inception of the YSRCP government, Rs 969.77 crore have been disbursed towards ‘YSR Nethanna Nestham’, Rs 1,396.45 crore towards Weaver’s Pensions, and Rs 468.84 Crores to APCO (including Rs 103 crore that were pending to APCO from the previous TDP government). The total amount spent under these three schemes for the welfare of weavers stands at Rs 2,835.06 crore. With this assistance, weavers have been able to upgrade their looms with modern equipment like Jaccard, double Jaccard, lifting machines, etc., enabling them to produce quality garments with modern designs.

Moreover, the Jagan government has taken significant steps to facilitate international marketing for handloom products. Agreements have been made with multinational companies such as Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, GoCoop, Loomfolks, Mirraw, and Paytm to enhance the incomes of weaver families.

In comparison, the previous government had spent only Rs 442 Crores over a span of 5 years for the welfare of weavers, while the Jagan Government has spent a substantial Rs 3,706 Crores in just 4 years, which is nearly nine times higher than the amount spent by the previous administration.
