Minister for Water Resources Ambati Rambabu has said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will complete the Polavaram Project and he will dedicate it to the nation. Former CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is telling lies about the Polavaram Project and misleading the people, he alleged.
Minister Ambati Rambabu visited the project along with Polavaram MLA T Bala Raju and Project Administrator Praveen and Engineer in Chief C Narayana Reddy on Tuesday.
Addressing the media, the minister said that his government had a responsibility to explain facts to the people regarding the Polavaram Project. Without completing the upper and lower coffer dams, approach channel, pilot channel, spill channel and spillway and the diversion of the river flow, the TDP government constructed the Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall), he alleged.
Further, he commented that due to faults made by Chandrababu, D-Wall was washed away by the floods in 2019-20. This project must have been constructed by the Central Government, but he took over the responsibility only for getting commissions, he alleged.
In view of the election campaign, Chandrababu is visiting the irrigation projects in the State, he alleged. The TDP chief did not commit to agriculture and irrigation projects. He refuted the allegations that the Polavaram Project would be constructed at 41.15 m instead of 45.72 m.
He made it clear that the first phase of the project was 41.15 m and the second phase would be 45.72 m. Also, he claimed that the project works had not been stopped so far. His government is completing all incomplete works, he added.
