YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been sharply criticised by Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila. In a statement on Monday, Sharmila suggested that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership is marked by incompetence, even going so far as to imply that his actions warrant placement in a museum for his foolishness.
Sharmila claimed that Naidu had become a significant challenge for Jagan Mohan Reddy, emphasising this point in her remarks on social media.
“We don’t harbour personal animosity, but we have the responsibility to highlight failures,” Sharmila wrote. “Is there any rule preventing opposition parties from questioning one another? We have the right to criticise any party when they falter. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s refusal to attend the Assembly is a serious issue. Disrespecting the legislature is unacceptable, which is why we believe Jagan should resign.”
Sharmila recounted her protest against the demolition of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s statue by ruling party activists. She criticised Jagan, saying, “Had you not destroyed NTR’s idols or changed the name of NTR University while in power, Your inability to engage effectively in the Assembly and reliance on media to address issues reflect poorly on your leadership.”
The APCC president also criticised Jagan Mohan Reddy’s policies, accusing him of failing to support farmers adequately and mismanaging the YSR Jalayagnam scheme and alcohol prohibition. She asserted that Jagan’s ‘alliance’ with the BJP has compromised the interests of the State for personal gain.
