Jailer 2 shooting officially on floors

Following a few underwhelming releases, Superstar Rajinikanth made a roaring comeback with Jailer (2023). The film turned out to be a massive success, grossing over Rs 600 crore at the box office.
Now, reports suggest that the much-awaited sequel, Jailer 2, has officially begun production, with shooting starting on Monday. Director Nelson Dilipkumar is returning to helm the project, while Sun Pictures is backing the film. Anirudh Ravichander is once again composing the music.
Several actors from the original film are expected to reprise their roles. Jackie Shroff, Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal had cameo appearances in Jailer, but according to sources, Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal will have extended screen space in Jailer 2. There is also buzz that Nandamuri Balakrishna might play a cameo in the sequel, although there is no official confirmation yet. “The makers approached Balakrishna for a role in Jailer 2, but he has not given a final decision yet,” a source revealed. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2026.
