Minister for Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Investments, BC Janardhan Reddy, has announced that despite financial constraints, road repair works across Andhra Pradesh is underway with a budget of ?861 crore. The State aims to be pothole-free by Sankranti 2025, with repair works set to be completed in the next few months.
Speaking during an inspection of road repair works on Konapalli Road in Kothapalli village, Prakasam district, Reddy emphasised the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, stating that the repairs will cover nearly 25,000 km of roads in three phases. In Prakasam district alone, 1,313 km of roads are being repaired at an estimated cost of ?21 crore.
Reddy, accompanied by Giddalur MLA M Ashok Reddy and local officials, highlighted that the repairs are critical to boosting economic activity and public welfare. He noted that the previous administration’s neglect of infrastructure had burdened the State with an additional ?15,000 crore in road expenses. The Minister also pointed out that the government is focused on ensuring effective governance, guided by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision for development.
Despite challenges posed by weather delays, Reddy assured that the goal of pothole-free roads will be achieved by January. He also stated that the State has secured ?75,000 crore in funding for national highway projects in collaboration with the Central government, which will further support economic growth and infrastructure development.
Minister Reddy reaffirmed the government’s resolve to restore industrial growth in the State and pledged to repay the trust of the people.
