From its rich history and cultural heritage to its bustling streets and scrumptious cuisine, Bangkok provides a memorable experience for every traveller. Well, recently, popular singing sensation Jasleen Royal was in this vibrant and colourful metropolis, having her own fun experience. The trip was not her vacay travel, but it was in Bangkok that she shot her just release track, Assi Sajna.
“It was lovely, you know. It was a close unit,” begins the Heeriye singer on an exclusive note with us. “The unit had all my friends, and we have worked together in many of my videos, so it just became like a fun trip. We were shooting till 4 a.m., starting at 6 a.m. It was crazy, but it was a lot of fun. I remember that we had to shoot some sequences in the afternoon, but it started raining. A lot of the lip-sync portion we shot were on the roof top of our hotel. As soon as it would stop for a while, I would run, and we got some usable bits (she giggles).”
Travelling with her team and exploring Bangkok was undeniably something that she’s enjoyed the most on the trip. Going ahead, she shares, “I am someone who enjoys work and pleasure. Kaam bhi hogaya, masti bhi hogayi, and iss baar gaana bhi bann gaya. Shooting for Assi Sajna in Bangkok was very easy, and we could easily get a lot of our work done.”
One thing that every musician enjoys are the musical tours that they go on. Jasleen being one of those who is often on her musical tours, she enthuses, “There’s on-season and off-season in our industry. I will be starting to travel in August and going on tours. So that gives me a break from being in Bombay, which also brings a little change. Sometimes you get bored of staying at the same place, and you feel like being stuck in terms of creativity. It helps you break the monotony. However, being on tour is very hard. It is fun, but at the end of the day, you want to just get back home to your dogs and family.”
During this work trip, she definitely didn’t miss out on exploring the city. As she goes on to speak of it, she shares, “There’s this photographer, who was a local, who was guiding us through the tour.” The Sang Rahiyo singer, being a vegetarian, shares that, luckily, he was a vegetarian too. “I would keep asking him to take me to a good place every time I felt hungry and get good vegetarian food. We did make the most of Bangkok.” There was also a memorable moment she got to experience on this trip. So basically, her best friend, who stays in Singapore, gave her a surprise by visiting her on the sets. And so, she describes this as the exact feeling that Assi Sajna brings out.
“I am not a planner, so I have my team always together, and I just follow them. I am just like, Where are you guys going? Chalo, even I am coming,” shares the Raanjha singer.
An overwhelming moment that she enjoys the most from her live concerts in different cities: “When the crowd is louder than my voice, it’s the best feeling when the audience knows your song. I feel thats the feeling that you live for, and I feel very overwhelmed, lucky, and blessed to have experienced that.”
On a concluding note for this segment, the Nachde Ne Saare singer shares, “My home is always a rejuvenating place for me. I just love coming back to my dogs, and you know how dogs greet you away from stress and life feels so good.”
