Jerome Flynn joins Lucifer sequel, L2: Empuraan

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran made his directorial debut with the successful Lucifer in 2019. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal played the lead role, with Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier also in key roles. Sukumaran himself also played an important role in the film. Now, the sequel to this hit film, L2: Empuraan, is set to hit the screens on March 27 this year.
The sequel is bigger in terms of budget, scale and cast, with high expectations already surrounding the film. Adding to the excitement, the makers have revealed that renowned Hollywood actor Jerome Flynn will play a key role, named Boris Oliver. Flynn is best known for his portrayal of Bronn in the iconic web series Game of Thrones. He has also appeared in films and series such as John Wick Chapter 3, Soldier Soldier and Black Mirror.
A teaser introducing Jerome’s character was released on Tuesday and the actor expressed his excitement about working in an Indian film. “I can’t quite remember how I got roped into this job, but I’m so glad I did because it was a completely different experience from what I’m used to in the UK or the USA. To be part of the Mollywood culture is really special,” said Jerome.
He further added that the film holds extra significance for him because India has played an important and precious role in his personal journey. “I spent several years visiting India in my late 20s and early 30s, mostly for spiritual retreats. The experience of being in India has changed my life forever in the best possible way.”
Subaskaran and Antony Perumbavoor are the producers, while Deepak Dev is the music director. The film will be released in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada.
