Jeweller, his son charred to death as house catches fire

A gold jewellery shop owner and his son were killed when flames erupted in their house due to an electric short circuit at Krishna Bazar centre in Narsipatnam town in Anakapalli district on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased Malleswara Rao was running a jewellery shop at Krishna Bazar centre. The family of Malleswara Rao lives on the first floor and the gold jewellery shop is located on the ground floor.

Flames erupted in the house in the wee hours, resulting in thick smoke engulfing the house. Malleswara Rao and his son Molesh suffered breathlessness due to suffocation and died. The fire brigade personnel rushed there and tried to save the lives of the father and son duo but could not.

Two of the family members were admitted to the KGH in Visakhapatnam. The house in which they were residing was very old.
