Burglars broke into a jewelry shop at Chandanagar on Monday and decamped with gold and silver.
The burglars entered an cloth shop next to the Pukhraj Lal Chand jewellery shop. The accused drilled a hole in the common wall between the two stores to gian entry into the shop. The accused broke open the safe and stole the ornaments.
The Chandanagar police reached the crime spot after being alerted. It is suspected that more than two people were involved in the burglary.
Chandanagar Inspector of Police D Palavelli said, “The burglary happened last night. The owner of the jewelry shop has yet to file a complaint based on which the amount of jewelry stolen can be ascertained.”
