JNTU student jumps to death on campus

A ‘depressed’ engineering student of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University in Kukatpally died by allegedly jumping from a building on Wednesday.The girl, Meghna Reddy (21), pursuing fourth year in Computer Science, had been on medication for depression. On Wednesday the girl had come along with her mother to write internal examinations.After completing the examination, she walked to the CSR building on the campus and jumped from the third floor towards the backside of the building. The college staff rushed her to a nearby hospital.  

KPHB Inspector Kishan Kumar said:”On Wednesday,  at 13:45 hours one girl namely Esanaka Meghana Reddy D/o E Manoj Kumar Reddy ( 21), studying in B Tech 4th Year CSE Group in JNTU Campus, due to depression she has committed suicide by jumping from 3rd Floor in JNTU Campus by which she sustained severe bleeding injuries. Immediately she was shifted to Prathima Hospital, at 3:36 hours, where she expired while undergoing treatment.”

Dr A Jaya Laxmi, Principal  said: ” I would like to declare that Esanka Meghana Reddy, Department of CSE, B Tech JNTU, committed suicide under depression and passed away. She was a bright student in the class. Her Eamcet rank was 200. She was with her mother on campus till 1:30 pm on Wednesday. When we enquired with her parents, we came to know that she was taking medication for depression.”
