Former Telangana Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Friday criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comments on the Musi River beautification project.
Speaking at a media conference here, Jagadish Reddy argued that the remarks made by the Chief Minister were unbecoming of someone occupying a high office, stating that they diminish the dignity associated with the role. The prestige of the Chief Minister’s office is important.
He suggested that Revanth Reddy should stop relying on speeches provided by speechwriters. He claimed that there was a significant progress made under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, pointing to an increase in state revenue since 2014. He criticised the current administration for making misleading claims regarding State debts, asserting that the revenue generated should be sufficient for the state’s needs.
Jagadish Reddy expressed his willingness to discuss issues related to state revenue.
Moreover, he raised alarms over the growing unemployment in the state, indicating that the growing discontent among young people could lead to widespread unrest across Telangana. He cautioned that imposing restrictions rather than addressing issues would be counterproductive, urging the government to engage with the youth and provide solutions to their concerns. He condemned using force against aspirants of Group 1 aspirants at Ashoknagar in Hyderabad.
He underscored the critical need for effective communication and responsive governance in Telangana, especially as youth frustration is mounting and expectations for development remain high. The future of the state’s leadership may depend on how well it addresses these pressing issues, he said.
