Telangana recorded the hottest day of this year so far. Severe heat continued in Telangana for the fifth consecutive day.

On Wednesday, Julrapad in Bhadradri–Kothagudem, sizzled at 46.4°C. Bayyaram, Khammam, Chunchupally, Nidamunur, and Mothey recorded more than 45 degrees Celsius. Khairtabad in Hyderabad too recorded 41.6°C and Gachibowli recorded 41.3C. Kukatpally, Qutubullapur, Secunderabad, Musheerabad and Uppal recorded 40°C.

Weather expert T. Balaji said that similar temperatures are expected during the next six days.

“These temperatures are nothing compared to the heat waves we witnessed during 2012-13, 2015-19 and the 2020 Amphan heat wave. During the last three years we had mild summers due to the La Nina phenomenon, but this year we have El Nino. Coming summers will be strong. During those years we had temperatures ranging from 47°C to 49°C in rural Telangana and 44°C to 46°C in Hyderabad during summer. So compared to those years, these four years are better. In coming years, the pre-2019 type heat may repeat due to El Nino,” he said.
