The Minister for Finance assured the workers would be offered medical expenses up to Rs 10 lakh under the Aarogyasri scheme

Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Sunday said that the government would increase the sum assured under the Karmika Bhima scheme to Rs 3 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh. The Karmika Bhima scheme has been launched on the lines of Rythu Bhima, to help the workers. The government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is committed to the welfare of workers.
Addressing a meeting, organised by the occasion of Construction Workers Association here, the Minister assured the workers that every eligible worker would get digital members cards so that they would secure all welfare schemes of the government. He assured the workers that he would bear all the expenses for the issuance of digital cards in Siddipet. He also said that the workers would be provided medical expenses up to Rs 10 lakh for diseases like cancer and heart surgery under Asrogysri Scheme.
Harish Rao spoke to the Minister for Labour Ch Malla Reddy and Commissioner of Labour Rani Kumudini from the venue of the meeting on the issuance of digital cards to workers.
Earlier, speaking at a function, shortly distributing Rs 1 lakh to 300 Backward Classes (BCs) families depending on caste-based professions here, the Minister appealed to the beneficiaries to make proper use of the scheme launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The Chief Minister introduced the scheme for the welfare of the artisans hailing from BCs.
In the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the governments had introduced 60 per cent subsidised bank-linked loans for the artisans. But the banks used to insist on a guarantor of loans and force the artisans from pillar to post, he said. The Chief Minister, he pointed out, has been gifting Rs 1 lakh to every eligible family hailing from BCs without sureties or documents.
Harish Rao said the artisans hailing from the Viswabrahmin community were facing difficulty. He recalled that the government has been providing free power to washermen and Nai Brahmins. He said that welfare schemes would be introduced to every eligible person in every community in phases, he promised.
