The Karnataka Assembly election is going to change the national political scenario. With the victory in Karnataka, the graph of the Congress has zoomed at the national level.
This has made some opposition parties to change their attitude towards the Congress, and they are now coming forward to support it in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Before the Karnataka Assembly elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had attempted to unite opposition parties.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wanted the Congress in the opposition alliance but West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wanted opposition parties to unite and fight the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections without Congress.
After the Karnataka Assembly election, Mamata has changed her mind and is now ready to work with the Congress on some conditions.
At the national level, the stands of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik are the same. Both are maintaining equidistance from the BJP and the Congress.
However, it seems that Naveen Patnaik may develop a soft corner for the BJP and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao may join hands with the Congress depending on the post-Lok Sabha elections political scenario.
After meeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. After that Naveen categorically said that his party will not join the opposition front.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao may not compromise with the BJP under any circumstance. After the Lok Sabha elections to prevent the BJP from coming to power at the Centre KCR may support the Congress-led opposition front.
Even though KCR is not interested in joining the Congress-led opposition front if the BJP fails to form a government at the Centre after the next Lok Sabha elections he will be very happy.
In the Telangana Assembly elections, in case the Congress fails to form a government but wins a good number of Assembly seats the Congress graph will zoom again at the national level.
In that case, political parties now neutral may take a stand in favour of either the BJP-led NDA or the Congress-led UPA during the LS elections.
