Steps are being taken to ensure efficient and transparent transactions in land dealings to provide better services to farmers, Revenue, Housing, I & PR Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said.

He said that a special programme is being prepared to implement the successful licensed surveyor system now existing in Karnataka in TG as well.

“Around 5,000 licensed surveyors are going to be recruited for this. For this, applications will be accepted till May 17, and those eligible will be selected and trained at the Telangana Survey Training Academy,” he said.

He said that two senior officers of the Survey Department had recently studied and submitted a report on the licensed survey system being implemented in Karnataka, and that action is being taken based on that report.

The Karnataka Government’s Licensed Surveyor Scheme was launched in 1999 after amendments were made in the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, and it came into effect from 2005-06. Under this scheme, a mutation sketch (PMS) is prepared before the registration of lands, and the pre-registration sketch will have clear land boundary details like area and title deed of the land being purchased.

At present, there are 6,000 licensed surveyors and 4,000 government surveyors in Karnataka. He said that each licensed surveyor receives an average of 23 applications per month, from which he earns an income of 25,000 to 30,000 per month. Licensed surveyors will conduct the survey and prepare a sketch before registration and upload it on the portal. Their work will be examined by government surveyors and approved by the concerned officer (AD, S & LR). Officials said that land transactions are being carried out efficiently and scientifically through this scheme.
