The Kataram-Mandhani road, which developed ditches, has been posing problems to commuters and became a virtual hell to travel on this road. Daily, thousands of vehicles commute on the road.

The road up to a distance of 20 km became unfit for motoring as huge ditches have been formed on the road between Kataram, Dhanwada, Regulagudem, Gangaram X Road, Koyyuru, Adavi Somanpalli, Battupalli.

The black top on the road has been washed away and the road became slushy. There were many instances of two-wheeler riders losing balance and falling onto the road. Several received injuries needing their hospitalisation. The condition of three-wheelers, cars and other medium-range vehicles is less said the better. Commuters of these vehicles have been facing severe inconvenience due to their vehicles upon using the road getting damaged and needing urgent repairs.

For want of repairs and not applying black top on the road, the condition of the road became worse, the villagers say.

To negotiate the road, it would take at least one-and-a-half hours instead of the usual 20-30 minutes, they said, criticising the State government for neglecting the development of the road for the past eight years.

The BRS regime established sand reaches in Godavari and Maneru rivers in Kataram, Mahadevpur and Malhar mandals indiscriminately as the sand from these rivers enjoy good demand from customers. Thousands of sand-laden lorries daily use the road helping the government earn crores of rupees. The roads have been damaged as the lorries carry sand over and above the limits. The lorries daily commute to Warangal, Hyderabad and other towns using the road. Because of the overlead, the roads have been destroyed. The people allege that the government is paying no attention to undertake repairs to the roads.

It was high-time, the government allocated funds and got repairs done to the road, the people of the region demand.
