After the announcements of 115 candidates by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao two people who are not even MLA candidates have drawn flak on social media.
MLC Kavitha has been at the receiving end over the demand for 33% reservations for women. Netizens criticised her as her father KCR gave tickets to just seven women candidates. Despite issuing public statements and clarifying her stand, Kavitha still draws flak. On Thursday, the BJP’s official handle had a cartoon on Kavitha. Responding to it Kavitha said, “It’s disappointing but not surprising to see the BJP attack me. It perpetuates outdated stereotypes about women. The amount of time that the BJP is investing in silencing dissent is amusing. However, actions speak louder than cartoons. So believe me it’s time to stop bullying and start working for passing the Women’s Reservation Bill.”
On the other hand, BRS social media convenor Krishank Manne is facing backlash with leading opposition supporters creating videos mocking him.
Krishank was in the run for the Cantonment ticket. He left the Congress after he was denied a ticket in 2018 and joined the BRS. Now the BRS has also refused him a ticket.
Krishank was brutal in countering opposition ever since he joined the BRS. However, being refused a ticket here as well led to a severe backlash.
Replying to a video by Congress backed Aapanna Hastham’s Twitter handle, Krishank said, “It is the ethics of war not to attack the wounded. But if you have the satisfaction of celebrating my downfall, let it be.”
Interestingly, no party leader is coming out in support of the two online. The two are fighting their own battles.
