Kazipet Junction, a vital South Central Railway hub, took centre stage as Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya met with General Manager Arun Kumar Jain in Hyderabad. Presenting a detailed memorandum, Dr Kavya demanded swift action to address critical issues threatening Kazipet’s operations.

The proposed transfer of loco running depot staff to Vijayawada sparked concern, with Dr Kavya warning that it could undermine Kazipet’s role. She also highlighted a staffing crisis, with 183 vacant posts at the loco running station overworking current employees. Dr Kavya pressed for immediate recruitment to ease the strain. Additionally, she opposed plans to shift coaching crew links to Vijayawada, reminding the GM of a 2022 Joint Committee pledge to retain them at Kazipet. Keeping crew links for trains like Krishna, LTT, Konark, and Gauthami Express is crucial for Kazipet’s stability, she stressed.

Jain responded positively, promising to review the issues and meet the Kazipet Railway Union within three days, raising hopes for solutions. MPs Raghuram Reddy and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy backed Dr Kavya, underscoring Kazipet’s importance.
