The Telangana Government has appointed Somesh Kumar, IAS (Retd), the former TS Chief Secretary, as the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister for three years. He will have the rank of a Cabinet Minister.

As per GO RT No: 767 issued by CS Santhi Kumari, the terms and conditions of his appointment will be issued separately. Somesh Kumar will join senior bureaucrat Rajiv Sharma, the first Chief Secretary of Telangana, who is also a Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister.

After Somesh Kumar was unceremoniously moved to Andhra Pradesh, the former Chief Secretary was seen along with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his trip to Chattrapathi Shambajinagar (Aurangabad).

Recently the Chief Minister acknowledged his contribution at the secretariat as well. Somesh Kumar reported to Andhra Pradesh on January 12 as per a directive from the Union Government’s Department of Personnel and Training.

The DoPT directed Somesh Kumar to report to AP cadre by January 12 in line with the verdict of the High Court which struck down an order of the Central Administrative Tribunal letting him continue in the Telangana cadre in 2014. He then applied for VRS.

Former IAS officer Somesh Kumar thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Pragati Bhavan on Tuesday for appointing him as the Chief Advisor.
