‘KCR brought revolutionary changes in the education sector’

Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday pointed out that Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great philosophical thinker.

Participating in the Teachers’ Day celebrations, organised by the Education Department at the District Collectorate here, the Minister said that Radhakrishnan was an eloquent spokesperson for Indian culture. He demonstrated Indian philosophy to the world.

The credit for bringing revolutionary changes in the education sector in the State should go to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The Chief Minister established Gurukula Schools to ensure that the children, particularly those who came from poor families, secure quality education. The government and Zilla Parishad Schools were upgraded on a par with the corporate schools, he observed.

Parents were making a beeline to enrol their children in the State-run schools now. It demonstrated that the government had brought reforms to the education system. The State government has been spending Rs 1.25 lakh on each student in Gurukula Schools. There has been huge competition for seats in Gurukula Schools, he said.

The Minister said that education would mould children into good citizens. Teachers would play a pivotal role in inspiring the children to become good citizens.

MP Badugula Lingaiah, District Collector S Venkata Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Deepika Yugandar, Grandhalaya Samsta chairman Nimmala Srinivas Goud and others were present.
