Declaring that the aim of the Congress is to defeat the dictator Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge said that the people of Telangana are ready to say goodbye to the KCR government.
He said that KCR focussed only on enriching his family in the last nine years. He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is coming to Telangana on Sunday and will ask what the Congress has done all these years. Kharge said that Amit will not criticize KCR as KCR has struck an internal deal with the BJP.
Mallikarjun Kharge gave a clarion call to remove both parties from power in the forthcoming assembly elections and the General Elections next year.
He said that due to that KCR is now not criticising BJP and the BJP is not criticising KCR. KCR did not attend the meeting of 26 opposition parties, Kharge pointed out.
“When you remember the Telangana movement, you feel sad. Many people took part in the Telangana movement. But only one family from Telangana benefited due to that. The state was given to the people of Telangana. Who gave power to KCR to rule Telangana? We are the ones who gave strength to KCR. KCR did not give us support. He came to Sonia’s residence and thanked her for giving Telangana and took a photo with her. However, after coming out from Sonia Gandhi’s residence KCR said that “all credit for getting Telangana is mine.” Kharge lashed out at KCR for betraying the people of the state and behaving as if entire Telangana was his personal fiefdom.
Kharge said that he is confident that a Congress government will come to power in Telangana. He said that they will fulfil all the assurances given to the people of Telangana like in Karnataka where they are fulfilling all the assurances given during elections.
Kharge said that after seeing the enthusiasm of the people of Telangana he was sure that the BRS would be totally routed.
He said the Congress would implement the 12 promises given in the SC, ST Declaration immediately after coming to power.
“Congress leaders would implement every word of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. That is the strength of the Congress. He checked out how much land was grabbed by China while riding his bike,” Kharge said.
Addressing the Chevella Praja Garjana on Saturday at the KVR Grounds in Chevella, Kharge asked Prime Minister Modi to reveal how many times he will criticise Congress governments. Kharge asked Modi to explain what non-Congress governments have done for the nation.
He recalled that the Congress ‘strengthened’ the nation during its 53-year rule and that the Congress government introduced the Food Security Act. He asked who constructed irrigation projects in Telangana. The production of food grains increased due to projects executed by the Congress. The Congress abolished the Zamindari system and implemented land reforms. The Congress nationalised Banks and also introduced MGNREGA.
Kharge said the Congress gave several institutions to Hyderabad. The Congress set up eminent companies in Hyderabad. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is the reason for everyone having cell phones now, he said.
The Congress brought about the green and white revolutions in India. Women’s literacy rate increased to 65 per cent due to programmes launched by the Congress. The Congress introduced several reforms in the education and medical sectors. The Congress objective is to keep the nation united, he said.
The AICC President said that it was the Congress that liberated Hyderabad. Congress leaders Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru merged Hyderabad with India. The Congress gave the Indian Constitution. The Congress is the party that provided IITs and IIMs to the nation, he said. But the Modi government has been ‘selling’ the PSUs, he said.
Many leaders joined the Congress on the occasion. Earlier, Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Gaddar’s portrait.
