TPCC president A Revanth Reddy on Thursday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who vowed to stall the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), explain why he was handing over the assets of Outer Ring Road (ORR) to a private company, IRB Infra Developers.
Revanth Reddy said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) expressed objection as the tenders were not floated as per the guidelines of the NHAI. He wondered whether tenders could be invited without deciding the base price for tenders.
Alleging that the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar is misleading the people of Telangana, the TPCC president slammed him for justifying the State government handing over the ORR to the IRB Infra as per the Mazars Company’s report. He said that cases had been registered in the US against Mazars Company.
Revanth Reddy said that the explanation on the ORR lease issue should be given by the Minister concerned. However, the MA&UD Minister “hid his face” thinking that he would get stuck in the issue if responded.
He found fault with Arvind Kumar for stating that the government would not reveal the base price, Revanth Reddy asked the Special Chief Secretary to tell whether there are any national security concerns in revealing the base price. Arvind Kumar did not respond to this question. He wondered if such a revelation of base price would pose any threat to KCR. The government did not give information sought through RTI, he said, asking the government to tell whether it will not answer CBI and ED also.
Demanding that the government abolish the tenders immediately, he said that KCR has no right to hand over the Telangana assets to private companies. “We will lodge a complaint with the State Vigilance and Enforcement in this regard. We would also lodge a complaint with the CAG as thousands of crores of scams took place in ORR tenders. “KTR is the reason for it. Both father and son are not given an explanation. Telangana State Cabinet has no superpowers to make decisions about what they like. Kalvakuntla Constitutional will not run here”, he said.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at his residence, Revanth Reddy said that the ORR is within the limits of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL). He said that the government has to bring the ORR under the limits of HMDA to hand over the ORR to IRB. He demanded that the government reveal the secret behind it. The government is getting Rs 2 crore every day from ORR toll gates and the government will get Rs 730 crore per year and Rs.22,000 crore in 30 years. The government will get Rs.16,000 crore bank loan with the ORR. But the government handed over the ORR to a private company at a low price.
Demanding the government to invite tenders by deciding a base price of Rs 7388 crores in Swiss Challenge manner, Revanth Reddy alleged that MA&UD Minister will enter into this tender in the name of Binamis keeping the IRB Infra Developers in front. KTR has been trying to loot the ORR revenue for 30 years.
