Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has requested the postponement of his scheduled appearance before the Justice PC Ghose Commission probing the execution of the Kaleshwaram Project.

Initially expected to appear on June 5, KCR is learnt to have sought more time, informing the commission that he would be available on June 11 instead. The commission reportedly accepted his request.

The inquiry, which has seen several top bureaucrats and engineers deposing, has now shifted its focus to political accountability. The former chief minister’s appearance is considered a significant event in the proceedings, especially in the context of the scrutiny of the project’s structural issues and financial transparency.

Former SIB chief T. Prabhakar Rao, the main accused in the sensational phone tapping case, is expected to return soon. Prabhakar, currently in the United States, is expected to land in Hyderabad by June 5. The Supreme Court recently granted him interim protection from arrest and directed the issuance of travel documents to facilitate his return.

Prabhakar has informed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that he will appear for questioning. His return is seen as a critical development in the phone tapping case, which involves serious allegations of illegal surveillance during BRS rule.

The surveillance allegedly extended to political leaders, journalists, and bureaucrats, and Prabhakar is accused of masterminding the destruction of evidence, including the burning of hard disks holding sensitive data.

Investigators believe his testimony could shed light on the entire surveillance network and possibly implicate more individuals, depending on the chain of command.
