KCR shut down 5,000 govt schools, divided students: CM

Must read

Pointing out that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao ‘divided’ students based on their castes by setting up separate SC, ST, BC and Minority residential schools, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the BRS government closed down 5,000 government schools resulting in rural students finding it difficult to get educated.
The CM said the KCR government did not construct proper buildings for 1,023 residential schools and that KCR did not care for poor students, government schools, hostels and residential schools. However, KCR constructed office buildings for the BRS in 33 districts, the CM said.
The CM asked KCR to reveal whether he had ever thought about providing jobs to educated students. KCR thought that the poor should live rearing buffaloes, sheep and fish, the CM said.
Laying the foundation stone for the Young India Integrated Residential School in Kondurg in Shadnagar in Rangareddy district on Friday, the Chief Minister said that although the BRS got no seats in the Lok Sabha elections the leaders of the BRS did not change their attitude.
The CM said that there was unrest among teachers due to the absence of transfers and promotions.
The Congress government raised the morale of teachers by giving promotions to 21,000 teachers, the CM said.
He said the Congress government’s aim is to provide quality education to all students in Telangana and that the Congress government will create a healthy Telangana.
The CM said the government is constructing Young India Integrated Residential schools with an outlay of Rs 5,000 crore and that all schools will have a campus of 25 acres and a sports ground. He said the government is reforming the entire education system.
KCR presented a Rs 22 lakh crore budget and borrowed Rs 7 lakh crore. The BRS government did not spend even Rs 10,000 crore to improve the infrastructure in government schools, the CM said.
“Our policy is to remove differences based on caste and religion. KCR’s policy was that his family should rule the state like kings. Why should only the poor work as sheep herders and the KCR family rule the state? The Congress is the only party which provides opportunities to weaker sections. The Congress is the party of the poor,” the CM said.
“The separation of SC, ST, BC and minorities will poison their minds. That is the reason why the Congress government is establishing Integrated Residential Schools so that all poor students can study together irrespective of caste and religion,” the CM added.
