IAS officers are hoping that the new Telangana government will follow the Karnataka model while transferring officials. In Karnataka, after the Siddaramaiah government took over, there were some transfers but there was no shakeup.
Now almost everyone in bureaucratic circles is confident of the CMO shakeup. But the current government is racing against time. There is a need for the Congress government to prove itself quickly as only around 100 days are left for Lok Sabha elections and the Model Code of Conduct will come into force.
They had promised to implement the six guarantees within 100 days which almost clashes with the Model Code of Conduct. Sources said that with the BJP deciding to take the Congress head on, the new government has to race against time. In such a situation, Ramakrishna is the best man to become the Finance Secretary.
Bureaucratic circles said that until the new government settles down, Ramakrishna should continue to be there. There is uncertainty over what will happen as new secretaries cannot do debt servicing quickly.
