BJP state unit president G Kishan Reddy on Sunday visited Moranchapalli, the worst-hit area in floods, and assured the flood victims of necessary support from the Centre.
The Centre announced an ex gratia of Rs 3 lakh each to the kin of the deceased in floods.
The recent floods caused by incessant rains affected Moranchapalli village severely and four villagers were washed away in the swirling waters. Thousands of poultry birds and cattle perished due to the floods. The roads were completely damaged. Over 300 families in the village were rendered homeless.
Kishan Reddy on Sunday visited the village to assess the damage caused to the village due to the floods. He consoled the bereaved family members. He directed District Collector Bhavesh Misra to take urgent steps to get the damaged roads repaired and restore normalcy.
Later talking to the media, he said that survey teams from the Centre would visit the village and compile a report on the flood loss in the village. He said he was deeply moved by the extent of devastation caused by the floods in the village.
Moreover, the State government has disaster relief funds to the tune of Rs 900 crore. Therefore, the State government should immediately respond when such disasters happen. He asked the State government to send a report on the losses due to floods in the state to the Centre.
District Collector Bhavesh Misra, district Superintendent of Police Pulla Karunakar, and others were present.
