There is no possibility of reducing even a single LS seat in South India, the BJP’s Telangana unit president Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, said. The BRS and the Congress should stop spreading lies at least now about the population census, he added.
“There will be 17 LS seats in Telangana and 25 LS seats in AP. Some are threatening to hold an all-party meeting in the South. We have no objection to that. Delimitation will be done in the same way it was done in 2009,” he said.
Attending Women’s Day celebrations held by the Mahila Morcha on Friday, Kishan said the census will be conducted under Modi’s guidance. He said the Women’s Reservation Act will be implemented before the next elections to Parliament and Assemblies. Some political parties are spreading lies regarding this, he added.
Kishan said that parties opposing reservations are spreading lies that LS seats will be reduced. He said that delimitation will be done and reservations will be provided. Decisions will be taken in an area-specific manner without reducing even a single seat, he said.
He said that 33 per cent of votes were cast in 37 per cent of polling booths and that 70 per cent of the people supported the BJP.
The BJP won 60 per cent of the votes in some districts and won two of the three MLC seats. A survey showed that 90 per cent of the votes of lady teachers and graduates went to the BJP, he said.
Kishan thanked Prime Minister Modi for supporting the BJP’s Telangana leadership and said that the BRS and the Congress have failed.
He said the BRS and the Congress gave many false promises to the people and deceived them. On International Women’s Day, he said the Congress Government and the Congress party should be held accountable for their guarantees and promises.
