Kite flying near places of worship prohibited for fest

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Kothakota Sreenivas Reddy on Monday prohibited kite flying in the vicinity of places of worship in order to maintain peace during Sankranti.
The orders will remain effective from 6 am on January 14 to 6 am on January 16. “In order to maintain law and order, peace and tranquility and to prevent incidents of breach of peace and accidents that are likely to occur unless kite flying is regulated during the celebration of Sankranti Festival in Hyderabad City from January 14 to 15, 2024. I, K Sreenivasa Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 22 (1), (2) and (3) of Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli (No. IX) do hereby order that kite flying on all thoroughfares and in and around places of worship be prohibited, in the interest of maintenance of public order and public safety,” read an order from the Commissioner.
“No loud speakers or DJ shall be placed or played in public spaces, without permission from concerned police authorities as per Rule 8 of Noise Pollution (Regulation   and Control) Rules, 2000 and no provocative speeches / songs shall be played over them.”
“No loud speakers should be used from 10 pm – 6 am; Parents and citizens of Hyderabad city are advised to guide and  supervise their children, not to fly kites from the terraces without parapet walls, to avoid any accident/untoward incident. They are suggested, also to advise their children not to run on the roads or vulnerable places while flying kites or trying to collect stray kites.  Children should be made aware of their vulnerability regarding electrocution, if they try to collect stray kites from electric poles.
All these suggestions are in the interest of the safety and security of children and to avoid accidents,” the order further read.
People must not collect wood forcibly for bonfires and they should use wood only with the consent of owners.  Any person violating the orders is liable for prosecution under the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 (No. IX) and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and other relevant laws.
