K’nada earns 2nd spot in sanitation

Kakinada Smart City has clinched the coveted second position in the national ranking for sanitation reforms among smart cities, with Indore City taking the top spot. The announcement of this prestigious award was made by Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Urban Development, during a ceremony held in Delhi on Friday.

Out of a total of 100 smart cities across the country, 39 participated in the competition for these accolades. Indore City was recognized as the best for its administrative reforms in sanitation, while Kakinada Smart City proudly secured the second position.

In Andhra Pradesh, the cities of Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Amaravati, and Kakinada were designated as smart cities, with Kakinada emerging as the sole recipient of the national award. The awards will be formally presented by President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the Smart Cities Conference scheduled to be held in Indore on September 27.

Ch. Naganarasimha Rao, Commissioner of Kakinada Corporation and CEO/MD of Kakinada Smart City, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated officers and staff who played a pivotal role in securing this prestigious award.
