Kotwal Rajabahadur Venkata Ram Reddy services remembered

Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud paid floral tributes to late Kotwal Rajabahadur Venkata Rama Reddy statue in the Green Belt region of Padmavati Colony here on Tuesday in connection with his 154th birth anniversary.

The Minister described Venkata Rama Reddy as a great administrator and people of the district take a great pride in him for the achievements of the son of the soil.

He said that Kotwal Venkata Rama Reddy brought laurels to the district as police commissioner of Hyderabad. He was instrumental in starting Reddy Hostel which provided shelter to many eminent persons. Taking a cue from him, people of other communities started hostels and supporting the poor students, he said.

The police academy has been named after him as a honour to the departed soul.

Further, the Government of Telangana conducts his birth anniversary officially, he said promising to groom the native village of Raja Bhadur Venkata Rama Reddy as a place of tourist attraction. His house would be converted into a museum.
The Green Belt region in Padmavati Colony would be beautified at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore in place where the statues of noble persons have been erected.

Further, he said that a statue of poet Vemana would also be installed in the region.

The people should follow the footsteps of eminent leaders like Chakali Ilamma, Sarvai Papanna, Doddi Komaraiah, Panduga Sayanna and the ilk.

Mahabubnagar MP Manne Srinivas Reddy, ZP Chairperson Swarna Sudhakar Reddy, Municipal chairman KC Narsimhulu, Rytu Bandhu Samiti District president Gopal Yadav, Market committee vice chairman Giridhar Reddy, Rytu Bandhu Samiti director Mallu Narsimha Reddy, councillor Katta Ravi Kishan Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
