BRS Working President KT Rama Rao lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding an explanation from the Congress high command over the reported mention of the CM in the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet in the National Herald money laundering case.
Addressing reporters here on Friday, KTR accused Revanth of continuing a “pattern of corruption” and called the silence of Congress leaders “shocking.”
“Revanth Reddy is not new to scandals. From the infamous cash-for-vote case to now being named in the ED charge sheet, is a repeat offender,” said KTR. He recalled the 2015 sting operation in which Revanth was caught on video allegedly attempting to bribe a nominated MLA with Rs 50 lakh and said, “That was the trailer, this is the film.”
Quoting the contents of the ED’s chargesheet, KTR said Revanth, then TPCC chief, sought funds from business houses and routed them through Congress office bearers to the Young Indian and AJL entities. “This is not a political charge. This is part of an official complaint filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by the ED itself,” he stressed.
He went on to question the Congress leadership’s refusal to act. “Even when their own MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Revanth bought the TPCC post for Rs 50 crore, Rahul did not respond. What more proof does the Congress need to acknowledge the rot?” KTR asked.
Calling Telangana an “ATM of the Congress,” he said that the looting has intensified after the party came to power.
“From the Amrut scam to the RR tax fraud to rampant irregularities in the Civil Supplies Department, we are witnessing a scam every week. It is no longer just rhetoric. The corruption trail is now backed by evidence,” he said.
KTR demanded a formal response from AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. “Will they stand by a Chief Minister who has been named in a money laundering charge sheet, or will they act responsibly?” he asked.
Dismissing any ambiguity in the ED’s findings, KTR said it was an “open and shut case” of corruption and misuse of political office. “The charges have been corroborated by the ED. It’s not a BRS statement. The Congress should come clean before the public loses the little confidence they have in the party,” he said.
